| 15 | 15 | | wasting disease (CWD) in cervids, in addition to managing and providing funding to |

| 16 | 16 | | conduct testing for CWD, which DNR is authorized to do under current law. A cervid |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | is any species of deer or elk that is present in the wild and that is not a farm-raised |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | deer. The bill also appropriates $1,000,000 annually from the general fund in fiscal |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | years 2023-24 and 2024-25 for research on and management of CWD. Current law |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | appropriates no money for this purpose. |
