18 | 18 | | transmitters to communicate with traffic control signals equipped with traffic |

19 | 19 | | control signal priority devices. These devices allow the operator of the vehicle to |

20 | 20 | | request that a green signal be provided or maintained to allow the vehicle to proceed |

22 | 22 | | Under current law, authorized emergency vehicles may be equipped with lamps |

23 | 23 | | or other transmitters to communicate with traffic control signals equipped with |

24 | 24 | | emergency preemption devices, which allow the operator of the vehicle to alter the |

25 | 25 | | normal traffic control sequence to provide or maintain a green signal to allow the |

26 | 26 | | vehicle to proceed through the intersection. |

27 | 27 | | The bill provides that the authority responsible for maintenance of a traffic |

28 | 28 | | control signal may establish procedures for resolving conflicts between multiple |
---|
29 | 29 | | requests for signal preemption or priority at a traffic signal, except that a signal |

30 | 30 | | preemption request from an emergency vehicle must be given priority over any |

103 | 103 | | SECTION 9. 347.385 (5) (a) of the statutes is amended to read: |
