12	12	AN ACT to create 6.34 (3) (a) 14., 6.34 (3) (a) 15., 6.34 (3) (a) 16., 6.34 (3) (a) 17.
13	13	and 6.34 (3) (a) 18. of the statutes; relating to: proof of residence for voter
14	14	registration.

16	16	Under current law, an elector may use any of a number of identifying
17	17	documents as proof of residence in order to register to vote, including a bank
18	18	statement, paycheck, utility bill, property tax bill, check or other document issued
19	19	by a unit of government, or current and valid operator's license or identification card
20	20	issued by the Department of Transportation. Current law provides that such
21	21	identifying documents must specify the elector's name and residential address. This
22	22	bill adds the following to the list of identifying documents that an elector may use
23	23	as proof of residence in order to register to vote:
24	24	1. A W-2 form.
25	25	2. A medical billing statement.
26	26	3. A service welcome letter, such as from a financial institution, utility, or credit
27	27	card company.
28	28	4. An insurance document.
29	29	5. A report card, official school transcript, or certified school record.
30	30	The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
31	31	enact as follows:

36	36	SECTION 1 SENATE BILL 841
37	37	SECTION 1. 6.34 (3) (a) 14. of the statutes is created to read:
38	38	6.34 (3) (a) 14. A W-2 form for the current year or the year preceding the date
39	39	of the election.
40	40	SECTION 2. 6.34 (3) (a) 15. of the statutes is created to read:
41	41	6.34 (3) (a) 15. A medical billing statement of a physician or hospital for the
42	42	period commencing not earlier than 90 days before the day registration is made.
43	43	SECTION 3. 6.34 (3) (a) 16. of the statutes is created to read:
44	44	6.34 (3) (a) 16. A service welcome letter, such as from a financial institution,
45	45	utility, or credit card company, for the period commencing not earlier than 90 days
46	46	before the day registration is made.
47	47	SECTION 4. 6.34 (3) (a) 17. of the statutes is created to read:
48	48	6.34 (3) (a) 17. An insurance document for the current year or the year
49	49	preceding the date of the election.
50	50	SECTION 5. 6.34 (3) (a) 18. of the statutes is created to read:
