Under the act, the State Superintendent of Public Instruction must nominate a director for the office; the nomination is subject to Senate confirmation. Senate Bill 971 creates appropriations for two responsibilities of the Office of Literacy created by Act 20: a literacy coaching program and administration of early literacy grants. SENATE AMENDMENT 2 Senate Amendment 2 specifies that the director of the Office of Literacy is assigned to executive salary group 3 under s. 20.923 (4) (c), Stats. BILL HISTORY Senator Stroebel offered Senate Amendment 2 on February 13, 2024. On February 13, 2024, the Senate adopted the amendment and passed the bill, as amended, each on a voice vote.
