1313 This constitutional amendment, proposed to the 2023 legislature on first
1414 consideration, provides that the people have the right to pursue their chosen trades,
1515 occupations, businesses, or professions.
1616 A constitutional amendment requires adoption by two successive legislatures
1717 and ratification by the people before it can become effective.
1818 Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That:
1919 SECTION 1. Section 27 of article I of the constitution is created to read:
2020 [Article I] Section 27. The people have the right to pursue their chosen trades,
2121 occupations, businesses, or professions.
2222 SECTION 2. Numbering of new provisions. If another constitutional
2323 amendment ratified by the people creates the number of any provision created in this

3636 2023 - 2024 Legislature
3737 joint resolution, the chief of the legislative reference bureau shall determine the
3838 sequencing and the numbering of the provisions whose numbers conflict.
3939 Be it further resolved, That this proposed amendment be referred to the
4040 legislature to be chosen at the next general election and that it be published for three
4141 months previous to the time of holding such election.
