1414 This constitutional amendment, proposed to the 2023 legislature on first
1515 consideration, provides that the people, including future generations, have the right
1616 to a clean, safe, and healthy natural environment, including pure water, clean air,
1717 healthy soils, self-sustaining ecosystems, and a safe and stable climate, and to the
1818 preservation of the natural, cultural, scenic, and healthful qualities of the
1919 environment.
2020 A constitutional amendment requires adoption by two successive legislatures
2121 and ratification by the people before it can become effective.
2222 Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That:
2323 SECTION 1. Section 27 of article I of the constitution is created to read:
2424 [Article I] Section 27 The people, including future generations, have the right
