1212 Relating to: declaring March 5, 2023, to March 11, 2023, as Women in Construction
1313 Week and celebrating the countless contributions of women in construction.
1414 Whereas, Wisconsin's construction industry is an important stimulator of our
1515 economy; and
1616 Whereas, a recent Associated Builders and Contractors study found that
1717 590,000 new skilled workers are needed to fill construction jobs in 2023; and
1818 Whereas, jobs in the construction industry offer long-term, family-supporting
1919 careers; and
2020 Whereas, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 14 percent of construction
2121 workers are women, an all-time high; and
2222 Whereas, national Women in Construction Week highlights the incredible
2323 initiatives and work of women within the construction industry; and
2424 Whereas, national Women in Construction Week is observed to show our
2525 appreciation to those women who have contributed to the construction industry,
2626 while encouraging others to make the same commitment; and

4545 Whereas, by helping to raise awareness of the available opportunities for
4646 women in the construction industry, the numbers and achievements of women in the
4747 construction industry can continue to grow; now, therefore, be it
4848 Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the
4949 Wisconsin Legislature join in declaring March 5, 2023, to March 11, 2023, as Women
5050 in Construction Week and celebrating the countless contributions of women in
5151 construction, not only those currently in the construction industry but those who
5252 have paved the way.
