13 | 13 | | Whereas, Sheryl Albers was born on September 9, 1954, as the second of eight |
---|
14 | 14 | | children to Marcus and Norma Gumz, and grew up in Baraboo, Wisconsin; and |

15 | 15 | | Whereas, Sheryl Albers graduated from Baraboo High School and went on to |
---|
16 | 16 | | attend Carroll University and earned her bachelor's degree in Art from Ripon |
---|
17 | 17 | | College; and |
---|
18 | 18 | | Whereas, Sheryl Albers was a proud farmer, having grown up on her family's |
---|
19 | 19 | | farm and returning to work at her family's farm following college growing mint and |
---|
20 | 20 | | soybeans before becoming a dairy farmer; and |

21 | 21 | | Whereas, Sheryl Albers was elected to the Wisconsin Assembly in 1991 in a |
---|
22 | 22 | | special election, and served the people of the 50th Assembly District for 18 years until |
---|
23 | 23 | | she retired in 2009; and |

45 | 45 | | Whereas, Sheryl Albers was a fierce advocate for the agriculture community |

46 | 46 | | and worked on issues affecting agriculture including property rights, rural economic |

47 | 47 | | development, and land use and zoning; and |

48 | 48 | | Whereas, while serving as a representative, Sheryl Albers attended the |
---|
49 | 49 | | University of Wisconsin Law School and earned her J.D. in 2004; and |
---|
50 | 50 | | Whereas, following her service in the assembly, Sheryl Albers practiced law, |
---|
51 | 51 | | which included working for the Juneau County District Attorney's Office and the |
---|
52 | 52 | | Wisconsin Supreme Court in the Office of Lawyer Regulation, and worked in human |
---|
53 | 53 | | resources at the Wisconsin Department of Corrections; and |
---|
54 | 54 | | Whereas, Sheryl Albers was recognized for her hard work and contributions to |
---|
55 | 55 | | the farming community, having served as a member on the Sauk County Farm |
---|
56 | 56 | | Bureau Board, being named Sauk County's Miss Farm Bureau, recognized as an |
---|
57 | 57 | | Outstanding Young Farmer, and being a member of several agricultural associations |
---|
58 | 58 | | including being a founding member of the Sauk County Women in Agriculture-Eagle |
---|
59 | 59 | | Bluff Chapter; and |

60 | 60 | | Whereas, Sheryl Albers had many talents and hobbies including being a |

61 | 61 | | talented seamstress, creating craft gifts, traveling and appreciating art from around |
---|
62 | 62 | | the world, enjoying the company of friends and hosting dinners, and she earned her |
---|
63 | 63 | | private pilot's license and owned a Terratorn Ultralight aircraft; and |
