| 14 | 14 | | conference of the American Academy of Pediatrics on October 26, 1996; and |

| 15 | 15 | | Whereas, “intersex” refers to individuals born with variations in their physical |

| 16 | 16 | | or biological sex characteristics, including genital anatomy, reproductive organs, |

| 17 | 17 | | hormonal variations, or chromosomal patterns; and |

| 18 | 18 | | Whereas, since the first Intersex Awareness Day in 1996, it has become a day |

| 19 | 19 | | during which intersex people and allies come together to celebrate and uplift the |

| 20 | 20 | | intersex community; and |

| 21 | 21 | | Whereas, approximately 1.7 percent of people are born with intersex traits; and |

| 22 | 22 | | Whereas, intersex people are often stigmatized and subjected to |
