1414 Relating to: honoring the life and public service of Representative Daniel
1515 LeMahieu.
1616 Whereas, Representative Daniel Roy LeMahieu, a dedicated public servant,
1717 proud veteran, community and business leader, and loving husband, father, and
1818 grandfather passed away on February 18, 2022; and
1919 Whereas, Daniel LeMahieu was born to Lewis and Lenore on November 5,
2020 1946, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin; and
2121 Whereas, he graduated from Oostburg High School in 1964 and went on to
2222 attend the UW-Sheboygan and UW-Milwaukee; and
2323 Whereas, Daniel LeMahieu served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971 before
2424 working in advertising at News Graphic for over ten years; and
2525 Whereas, he went on to purchase the Lakeshore Weekly and was the owner and
2626 publisher of the weekly for 23 years; and
2727 Whereas, Daniel LeMahieu served as a Sheboygan County Board Supervisor
2828 from 1988 until 2002, twice being elected chairman; and

4747 Whereas, Daniel LeMahieu was first elected to the Wisconsin Assembly in 2002
4848 and proudly represented the people of the 59th Assembly District for 12 years; and
4949 Whereas, during his time in the assembly, he served as vice-chair of the
5050 powerful Joint Committee on Finance and also served as co-chair of the Joint
5151 Committee for Review of Administrative Rules and chair of the Assembly Committee
5252 on Urban and Local Affairs; and
5353 Whereas, Daniel LeMahieu was a lifelong member of Bethel Orthodox
5454 Presbyterian Church, where he served as elder, Sunday School superintendent, sang
5555 in choir, and was active in Men's Life; and
5656 Whereas, Daniel LeMahieu was also active in the Oostburg Business
5757 Association and the Oostburg Kiwanis Club and, during retirement, served on the
5858 board of Anchor of Hope and the regional board of Thrivent; and
5959 Whereas, Daniel LeMahieu will be remembered for his unwavering dedication
6060 to his community and the state of Wisconsin; and
6161 Whereas, Daniel LeMahieu's legacy in the Wisconsin Legislature lives on
6262 through his son, Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu; now, therefore, be it
6363 Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the
6464 Wisconsin State Legislature join in honoring the life and public service of
6565 Representative Daniel LeMahieu and extend their condolences to his family and
6666 friends; and, be it further
6767 Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide a copy of this resolution to
6868 Rosemary, Daniel LeMahieu's wife of 54 years.
