14	14	Relating to: honoring the life and public service of Representative Daniel
15	15	LeMahieu.
16	16	Whereas, Representative Daniel Roy LeMahieu, a dedicated public servant,
17	17	proud veteran, community and business leader, and loving husband, father, and
18	18	grandfather passed away on February 18, 2022; and
19	19	Whereas, Daniel LeMahieu was born to Lewis and Lenore on November 5,
20	20	1946, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin; and
21	21	Whereas, he graduated from Oostburg High School in 1964 and went on to
22	22	attend the UW-Sheboygan and UW-Milwaukee; and
23	23	Whereas, Daniel LeMahieu served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971 before
24	24	working in advertising at News Graphic for over ten years; and
25	25	Whereas, he went on to purchase the Lakeshore Weekly and was the owner and
26	26	publisher of the weekly for 23 years; and
27	27	Whereas, Daniel LeMahieu served as a Sheboygan County Board Supervisor
28	28	from 1988 until 2002, twice being elected chairman; and

47	47	Whereas, Daniel LeMahieu was first elected to the Wisconsin Assembly in 2002
48	48	and proudly represented the people of the 59th Assembly District for 12 years; and
49	49	Whereas, during his time in the assembly, he served as vice-chair of the
50	50	powerful Joint Committee on Finance and also served as co-chair of the Joint
51	51	Committee for Review of Administrative Rules and chair of the Assembly Committee
52	52	on Urban and Local Affairs; and
53	53	Whereas, Daniel LeMahieu was a lifelong member of Bethel Orthodox
54	54	Presbyterian Church, where he served as elder, Sunday School superintendent, sang
55	55	in choir, and was active in Men's Life; and
56	56	Whereas, Daniel LeMahieu was also active in the Oostburg Business
57	57	Association and the Oostburg Kiwanis Club and, during retirement, served on the
58	58	board of Anchor of Hope and the regional board of Thrivent; and
59	59	Whereas, Daniel LeMahieu will be remembered for his unwavering dedication
60	60	to his community and the state of Wisconsin; and
61	61	Whereas, Daniel LeMahieu's legacy in the Wisconsin Legislature lives on
62	62	through his son, Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu; now, therefore, be it
63	63	Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the
64	64	Wisconsin State Legislature join in honoring the life and public service of
65	65	Representative Daniel LeMahieu and extend their condolences to his family and
66	66	friends; and, be it further
67	67	Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide a copy of this resolution to
68	68	Rosemary, Daniel LeMahieu's wife of 54 years.
