1313 Whereas, each November the nation and Wisconsin celebrate Apprenticeship
1414 Week to raise awareness of this career pathway for individuals to start a career in
1515 this state; and
1616 Whereas, Wisconsin has a rich tradition of promoting apprenticeship training
1717 as the first state to create a registered apprenticeship law, which is seen as a national
1818 model for other states, and as one of the first in the nation to create a youth
1919 apprenticeship program to help students gain experience while still in school; and
2020 Whereas, Wisconsin continues to set records for the number of registered
2121 apprentices, which hit a record high in 2022 with nearly 16,000, and the same is true
2222 for the youth apprenticeship program with over 8,300 students participating with
2323 5,700 employers; and
2424 Whereas, apprenticeship in Wisconsin has expanded to nearly all industries,
2525 including agriculture, finance, transportation, health care, and construction and is

4646 Whereas, the apprenticeship model continues to help Wisconsin address the
4747 workforce shortage by helping employers train and hire the workers they need to
4848 keep Wisconsin's economic engine moving forward; now, therefore, be it
4949 Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the Wisconsin
5050 State Legislature hereby recognizes the week of November 13 to 19, 2023, as
5151 Wisconsin Apprenticeship Week.
