1313 AN ACT to repeal 46.87 (5m); to amend 46.87 (5) (a) 3. and 46.87 (5) (b) of the
1414 statutes; relating to: financial eligibility for the Alzheimer[s family and
1515 caregiver support program.

1717 Under current law, the Department of Health Services allocates funds to local
1818 agencies to assist eligible families with obtaining goods and services related to the
1919 care of a person with Alzheimer[s disease or another irreversible dementia.
2020 Currently, a person is financially eligible for the program if the joint income of the
2121 person with irreversible dementia and that person[s spouse, if any, is $48,000 per
2222 year or less. This bill repeals the financial eligibility requirement.
2323 For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as
2424 an appendix to this bill.
2525 The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
2626 enact as follows:
2727 SECTION 1. 46.87 (5) (a) 3. of the statutes is amended to read:
2828 46.87 (5) (a) 3. The household meets financial eligibility requirements

4141 SECTION 2. 46.87 (5) (b) of the statutes is amended to read:
4242 46.87 (5) (b) Provide or contract for the provision of services and goods or
4343 make payments for services to a person with Alzheimer[s disease living in a
4444 residential facility in the county or in a residential facility associated with the tribe
4545 or band who meets financial eligibility requirements specified in sub. (5m) and is
4646 ineligible for the family care benefit under s. 46.286 in a county in which a care
4747 management organization under s. 46.284 operates.
4848 SECTION 3. 46.87 (5m) of the statutes is repealed.
