14	14	Relating to: proclaiming April 24, 2025, to be Holocaust Remembrance Day and
15	15	April 27, 2025, to May 4, 2025, as Holocaust Days of Remembrance in
16	16	Wisconsin.
17	17	Whereas, from 1933 to 1945, 6 million Jews were murdered by the Nazis and
18	18	their collaborators in the Holocaust as part of a systematic program of persecution
19	19	culminating in genocide, and millions of other people were targeted and killed; and
20	20	Whereas, Jews who fell under German control in Eastern and Central Europe
21	21	were quickly and cruelly stripped of their rights and property; and
22	22	Whereas, the Jews who were murdered by the Nazis and their collaborators
23	23	comprised two-thirds of the European Jewish population, and in Poland, which
24	24	before the second World War included parts of modern-day Ukraine and Belarus,
25	25	the Jewish death toll was 90 percent; and
26	26	Whereas, the Holocaust represents a dark period in the history of civilization

41	41	of mankind and must always be remembered in order to prevent its reoccurrence
42	42	and promote respect and common humanity; and
43	43	Whereas, Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, which commemorates
44	44	the millions of Jewish victims of the Holocaust, was established by the Israeli
45	45	parliament, the Knesset, in 1951. It is observed on the 27th of Nisan in the Hebrew
46	46	calendar, which marks the anniversary of the Warsaw ghetto uprising; and
47	47	Whereas, the year 2025 marks the 80th Anniversary of the liberation of
48	48	Auschwitz-Birkenau; and
49	49	Whereas, remembrance ceremonies are held throughout the United States
50	50	and around the world to remember the tragedy of the Holocaust, including at the
51	51	Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C., in the halls of the United Nations in New
52	52	York City, and here in Wisconsin; and
53	53	Whereas, following the recent acts of hatred and violence against the Jewish
54	54	Community, it is critical that we stand together to combat and educate about the
55	55	dangers of antisemitism and all forms of hate and bigotry in our communities and
56	56	across this State, so we ensure that suffering on the scale of the Holocaust truly
57	57	never does happen again; and
58	58	Whereas, knowing that the events and root causes of the Holocaust must not
59	59	be forgotten and that, particularly as survivors diminish in number, links must be
60	60	forged to educate future generations; now, therefore, be it
61	61	Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the Wisconsin
62	62	Legislature formally recognizes April 24, 2025, to be Holocaust Remembrance Day
63	63	and April 27, 2025, to May 4, 2025, as Holocaust Days of Remembrance in
