15	15	Relating to: congratulating the University of Wisconsin]Madison women[s hockey
16	16	team on winning the 2025 NCAA Division I Women [s Hockey National
17	17	Championship.
18	18	Whereas, the University of Wisconsin]Madison women[s hockey team won a
19	19	record-breaking eighth title after securing the 2025 NCAA Division I Women[s
20	20	Hockey National Championship by defeating the Ohio State Buckeyes 4-3 in
21	21	overtime during a thrilling Frozen Four championship game; and
22	22	Whereas, the UW]Madison women[s hockey team demonstrated exceptional
23	23	perseverance, talent, and sportsmanship throughout a dominant 2024]25 season;
24	24	and
25	25	Whereas, Kirsten Simms scored the winning goal after a rebound in overtime
26	26	and equalized the game on a penalty shot with 18.9 seconds left in regulation; and
27	27	Whereas, Ava McNaughton stopped 18 of 21 shots to secure her 36th win of
28	28	the season, the most of any Wisconsin netminder in school history; and

44	44	Whereas, the team was led by co-captains Caroline Harvey and Casey O[Brien
45	45	and alternate captains Lacey Eden and Laila Edwards, who were joined by
46	46	teammates Finley McCarthy, Kelly Gorbatenko, Hannah Halverson, Ava Murphy,
47	47	Cassie Hall, McKayla Zilisch, Maggie Scannell, Claire Enright, Grace Bickett,
48	48	Marianne Picard, Bella Vasseur, Vivian Jungels, Emma Venusio, Laney Potter,
49	49	Sarah Wozniewicz, Katie Kotlowski, Ava McNaughton, Chloe Baker, and Quinn

51	51	Whereas, the team was managed by brilliant coaches and staff, led by head

58	58	Whereas, the UW]Madison community and our state take pride in the
59	59	integrity, leadership, and excellence the team has demonstrated in its historic
60	60	accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
61	61	Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of
62	62	the Wisconsin State Legislature do hereby commend the University of
63	63	Wisconsin]Madison women[s hockey team and coaching staff, athletic department,
64	64	and chancellor on winning the 2025 NCAA Division I Women[s Hockey National
65	65	Championship title and wish the student-athletes, coaches, and staff continued
66	66	success on and off the ice.
