50 | 50 | | Whereas, the month of May was selected for Asian/Pacific American Heritage |

51 | 51 | | Month because the first Japanese immigrants arrived in the United States on May |

52 | 52 | | 7, 1843, and the first transcontinental railroad was completed on May 10, 1869, |

53 | 53 | | with substantial contributions from Chinese immigrants; and |

54 | 54 | | Whereas, the recent enactment of 2023 Wisconsin Act 266 ensures that the |

55 | 55 | | unique histories and cultures of Asian Americans and Hmong Americans are |

56 | 56 | | taught to schoolchildren throughout Wisconsin; and |

57 | 57 | | Whereas, AANHPI Heritage Month provides the people of Wisconsin with an |
---|
58 | 58 | | opportunity to recognize and celebrate the achievements, contributions, and history |
---|
59 | 59 | | of AANHPI communities and understand the challenges they face; now, therefore, |

61 | 61 | | Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the Wisconsin |

62 | 62 | | State Legislature recognizes AANHPI Heritage Month as an important time to |
