1515 Relating to: recognizing the United States Army[s 250th birthday.
1616 Whereas, older than the nation it defends, the U.S. Army was established on
1717 June 14, 1775, and this year marks 250 years of continuous defense of the nation;
1818 and
1919 Whereas, as we celebrate the 250th birthday of the U.S. Army, we reflect on its
2020 rich history and legacy of service, sacrifice, and dedication; and
2121 Whereas, from the Revolutionary War to present-day missions, our soldiers
2222 have consistently demonstrated their resolve to defend freedom at home and
2323 abroad; and
2424 Whereas, for 250 years, U.S. Army soldiers, families, and Army civilians have
2525 supported our nation, bearing true faith and allegiance to the country, the U.S.
2626 Constitution, and the Army; and
2727 Whereas, America[s Army is the largest of the armed services, consisting of

4242 more than 1.2 million people across the globe who defend our country every day;
4343 and
4444 Whereas, today's Army stands ready to meet any challenge and will continue
4545 to adapt and modernize to remain the most lethal ground force in the world; and
4646 Whereas, more than 10,000 Army soldiers and civilians are currently
4747 stationed or working in Wisconsin, and more than 100,000 Army veterans call
4848 Wisconsin home; and
4949 Whereas, since it was established in 1909, U.S. Army Garrison Fort McCoy
5050 has played a crucial role in our nation[s defense and growth as a nation, both as a
5151 mobilization and training site for military personnel and as a select location for
5252 housing displaced persons; and
5353 Whereas, Fort McCoy is the only U.S. Army installation in Wisconsin, has a
5454 local and regional economic impact of nearly $1.4 billion, and remains one of
5555 Monroe County[s largest employers; and
5656 Whereas, each Army soldier serves according to the Army Values of loyalty,
5757 duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage; and
5858 Whereas, Army soldiers and civilians will continue to maintain the trust and
5959 confidence of the American people while adding to the proud legacy of the Army;
6060 and
6161 Whereas, Wisconsin honors and appreciates its Army soldiers, civilians, and
6262 veterans and their legacy of brave service to our state and nation as a whole; now,
6363 therefore, be it
