10	10	Relating to: recognizing the achievements of women athletes in Wisconsin.
11	11	Whereas, the Wisconsin Assembly recognizes the numerous Wisconsin women
12	12	at the professional and collegiate levels who have led the way and are continuing to
13	13	advance women[s achievements in athletics; and
14	14	Whereas, first, the University of Wisconsin[s Women[s Ice Hockey Team and
15	15	their numerous Frozen Four Championships (2006, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2019, 2021,
16	16	and 2023). Numerous Badgers have been selected as the Frozen Four Most
17	17	Outstanding Player: Jessie Vetter in 2006 and 2009, Sara Bauer in 2007, Meghan
18	18	Duggan and Hilary Knight in 2011, Kristen Campbell in 2019, Makenna Webster in
19	19	2021, and Cami Kronish in 2023; and
20	20	Whereas, Margaret Danhauser was born in 1921 in Racine, Wisconsin. She
21	21	was a member of the Racine Belles, playing at first base, in the All-American Girls
22	22	Professional Baseball League. She won the first All-American Girls Professional
23	23	Baseball League World Championship with the Belles in 1943. The 1992 film XA

39	39	League of Their OwnY is based on the Racine Belles and the All-American Girls
40	40	Professional Baseball League; and
41	41	Whereas, Beth Heiden, a Madison native, won the bronze medal for the 3000-
42	42	meter speedskating event at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York.
43	43	She is also one of two American women to have become world all-around champion,
44	44	and was inducted in the National Speedskating Hall of Fame in 1989; and
45	45	Whereas, Gwen Jorgensen is a native of Waukesha and competed on the
46	46	Wisconsin Badgers Swimming and Track and Field Teams. She won the World
47	47	Championship in 2014 and 2015 before winning the gold medal in the triathlon at
48	48	the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. Gwen is now known as XQueen of TriathlonY;
49	49	and
50	50	Whereas, Bonnie Blair is a resident of Delafield, Wisconsin, and is one of the
51	51	most decorated Olympians of all time. Blair won five gold medals between the 1988
52	52	Calgary Winter Olympics, 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics, and the 1994
53	53	Lillehammer Winter Olympics as a speedskater. Bonnie has been inducted in the
54	54	Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame and was elected in the United States Olympic Hall
55	55	of Fame in 2004; and
56	56	Whereas, Chellsie Memmel is a West Allis native who competed in gymnastics
57	57	at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. She is decorated gymnast with three gold medals
58	58	from the 2003 and 2005 World Championships and was inducted into the
59	59	International Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 2022; now, therefore, be it
60	60	Resolved by the assembly, That the Wisconsin Assembly recognizes the
61	61	achievements of women athletes in Wisconsin.
