1111 AN ACT to amend 347.26 (4) (a); to create 347.26 (4) (am) of the statutes;

1414 This bill provides that a school bus may be equipped with one back-up lamp
1515 mounted to each side of the vehicle and directed to project a white or amber light
1616 illuminating the rear wheels of the vehicle when backing. Under current law, a
1717 motor vehicle may not be equipped with more than two back-up lamps, which must
1818 be directed to project white or amber light illuminating the roadway to the rear of
1919 the vehicle for a distance of up 75 feet.
2020 The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
2121 enact as follows:
2222 SECTION 1. 347.26 (4) (a) of the statutes is amended to read:
2323 347.26 (4) (a) Any Except as provided in par. (am), any motor vehicle may be
2424 equipped with not more than 2 back-up lamps which shall be so directed as to
2525 project a white or amber light illuminating the roadway to the rear of such vehicle

3838 SECTION 2. 347.26 (4) (am) of the statutes is created to read:
3939 347.26 (4) (am) In addition to the lamps authorized under par. (a), a school
4040 bus may be equipped with one back-up lamp mounted to each side of the vehicle and
4141 directed to project a white or amber light illuminating the rear wheels of the vehicle
4242 when backing.
