1212 AN ACT to repeal 46.87 (5m); to amend 46.87 (5) (a) 3. and 46.87 (5) (b) of the
1313 statutes; relating to: financial eligibility for the Alzheimer[s family and
1414 caregiver support program.

1616 Under current law, the Department of Health Services allocates funds to local
1717 agencies to assist eligible families with obtaining goods and services related to the
1818 care of a person with Alzheimer[s disease or another irreversible dementia.
1919 Currently, a person is financially eligible for the program if the joint income of the
2020 person with irreversible dementia and that person[s spouse, if any, is $48,000 per
2121 year or less. This bill repeals the financial eligibility requirement.

2323 an appendix to this bill.
2424 The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
2525 enact as follows:
2626 SECTION 1. 46.87 (5) (a) 3. of the statutes is amended to read:
2727 46.87 (5) (a) 3. The household meets financial eligibility requirements

4040 SECTION 2. 46.87 (5) (b) of the statutes is amended to read:
4141 46.87 (5) (b) Provide or contract for the provision of services and goods or
4242 make payments for services to a person with Alzheimer[s disease living in a
4343 residential facility in the county or in a residential facility associated with the tribe
4444 or band who meets financial eligibility requirements specified in sub. (5m) and is
4545 ineligible for the family care benefit under s. 46.286 in a county in which a care
4646 management organization under s. 46.284 operates.
4747 SECTION 3. 46.87 (5m) of the statutes is repealed.
