 ***AUTHORS SUBJECT TO CHANGE***
AN ACT to create 118.02 (7d) of the statutes; relating to: a special observance
day in schools for Armenian Genocide Awareness Day.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill adds April 24, Armenian Genocide Awareness Day, to the list of
special observance days that apply to general school operations. Current law
provides a list of 22 special observance days, including Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Day; Susan B. Anthony[s birthday; Environmental Awareness Day; Bullying
Awareness Day; and Veterans Day. Under current law, a special observance day
must be appropriately observed when school is held on that day or, if the day falls on
a Saturday or Sunday, on the school day immediately preceding or following the
special observance day.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SECTION 1. 118.02 (7d) of the statutes is created to read:
118.02 (7d) April 24, as part of Genocide Awareness Month, Armenian
