17 | 17 | | Whereas, Representative Martin then served in the U.S. Army Corps of |

18 | 18 | | Engineers, leading a unit in rebuilding bridges throughout war-torn Germany, and |

19 | 19 | | later worked as a forester for the Kimberly Clark Corporation; and |

20 | 20 | | Whereas, Representative Martin was first elected to the Wisconsin State |

21 | 21 | | Assembly in 1960 and went on to serve for five consecutive terms; and |

50 | 50 | | Whereas, Representative Martin was the Republican nominee for lieutenant |

51 | 51 | | governor in the 1970 gubernatorial election; and |

52 | 52 | | Whereas, following his career in the state legislature, Representative Martin |

53 | 53 | | returned to work for the Kimberly Clark Corporation as their manager for |
---|
54 | 54 | | government relations for nearly three decades; and |

55 | 55 | | Whereas, Representative Martin later served as the associate vice president |
---|
56 | 56 | | for business and university relations for the University of Wisconsin System until |
---|
57 | 57 | | his retirement in 1993; and |

58 | 58 | | Whereas, Representative Martin, along with his wife Joan Martin, also owned |

59 | 59 | | the Marquette Café and Bar in Marquette, Iowa; and |
