HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 11 ### (By Delegates Heckert, T. Clark, Sheedy, DeVault, Jennings, Riley, Crouse, Cooper, Fehrenbacher, Criss, and Hanshaw (Mr. Speaker) Introduced February 13, 2025; Referred to the Committee on Energy and Public Works then Rules.] Requesting the Division of Highways name Bridge Number: 54-014/00-013.22 () (54A037), (39.26028, -81.55637) locally known as Fifth Street Bridge (SSTT), carrying WV 014 over Little Kanawha River in Wood County, the "Thomas A. Azinger Memorial Bridge". Whereas, Delegate Thomas A. Azinger lived a life worthy of remembrance; and Whereas, Delegate Azinger was born July 2nd, 1935, in Parkersburg, WV to Anna Mae Rankin Azinger and Albert G. Azinger; and Whereas, Delegate Azinger was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and attained the rank of Eagle Scout; and Whereas, Delegate Azinger graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1953 and went on to attend West Virginia University; and Whereas, While at WVU, Delegate Azinger would become the president of Phi Sigma Kappa and graduate with a business degree; and Whereas, Delegate Azinger also served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps and rose to the rank of Corporal; and Whereas, Delegate Azinger owned and operated Azinger Insurance Agency for 30 years and earned his CLU and CFP certifications; and Whereas, Delegate Azinger was elected to the West Virginia House of Delegates from 1994 to 2012, was appointed again in 2018 before later being elected again in the same year; and Whereas, Delegate Azinger served as the Minority Chair of several committees during his time serving in the House of Delegates; and Whereas, Delegate Azinger was a former President of the Parkersburg area Jaycees, a former President of the Vienna area Lions Club, and served on the Vienna City Council for six years; and Whereas, Delegate Azinger was a member of the Vienna Masonic Lodge #172, AF & AM, and attended Westminster Presbyterian Church in Vienna; and Whereas, Delegate Azinger, after a lifetime of service and dedication to his home, passed away on July 13th, 2024; and Whereas, Delegate Azinger is survived by his wife, Janet Janes Azinger, and his children Pamela Lea Hopkins, Michael T. Azinger, John P. Azinger, David A. Azinger, twelve grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren who will share stories of Delegate Azinger's dedication to the state of West Virginia and love for his family for many years to come; therefore, be it Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia: That the Division of Highways name Bridge Number: 54-014/00-013.22 (), (39.2602810058114, -81.5564293139055) locally known as the Fifth Street Bridge, to the "Thomas A. Azinger Memorial Bridge," and, be it Further Resolved, That the Division of Highways is hereby requested to have made and be placed signs identifying the bridge as the " Thomas A. Azinger Memorial Bridge," and, be it Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House forward a copy of this resolution to the Commissioner of the Division of Highways.
