HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 55 (By Delegates Campbell, Canterbury, and Cooper) [February 20, 2025; Referred to the Committee on Energy and Public Works then Rules] Requesting the Division of Highways rename the section of road beginning at (37.765157, -80.466491) and ending at (37.787638, -80.452570), known locally as the Seneca Trail, to the "Vance Brothers Six Military Veterans Highway" and have signs placed identifying it as such. Whereas, The six brothers of the Vance family lived lives worthy of remembrance; and Whereas, Carl Vance, George Vance, Jerry Vance, Phillip Vance, Robert Vance, and James Vance were all natives of Fairlea, WV and served a combined 71 years in the U.S. Army and Air Force; and Whereas, Carl served as an Aircraft Maintenance Tech in the Air Force and was honorably discharged on May 6th, 1975; and Whereas, George served as a Sound Ranging Crewman in the Army and was honorably discharged on November 7th, 1967; and Whereas, Jerry served as an Engineer Equipment Repairman in the Army and was honorably discharged on August 17th, 1971; and Whereas, Phillip served as a Basic Airman in the Air Force and was honorably discharged on May 28th, 1963; and Whereas, Robert served as a Light Weapons Infantryman and was honorably discharged on November 18th, 1969; and Whereas, James served as a Utility Helicopter Repairman and Light Wheel Vehicle/Power Generation Mechanic and was honorably discharged on August 3rd, 1981; therefore, be it Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia: That the Division of Highways rename the section of road beginning at (37.765157, -80.466491) and ending at (37.787638, -80.452570), known locally as the Seneca Trail, to the "Vance Brothers Six Military Veterans Highway" and have signs placed identifying it as such; and, be it Further Resolved, That the Division of Highways is hereby requested to have made and be placed signs identifying the portion of road as such; and, be it Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House forward a copy of this resolution to the Commissioner of the Division of Highways.
