HOUSE RESOLUTION 5 ### (By Delegates Crouse, D. Smith, Drennan, Jennings, Heckert, Butler, Brooks, Phillips, Hornby, Dean, and Masters) [Introduced February 17, 2025; Referred to the committee on Rules ] Recognizing the month of October as Military Toxic Exposure Awareness Month. Whereas, Military personnel, veterans, workers, and their families, including Vietnam veterans exposed to Agent Orange, have endured severe health consequences from toxic exposures, highlighting the long-lasting impacts of military-related contamination; and Whereas, Recognizing October as Military Toxic Exposure Awareness Month will raise awareness about the challenges faced by those affected, advocate for research into treatments and support, and promote legislative efforts to address these critical issues; and Whereas, It is crucial to acknowledge and support initiatives that provide assistance and resources for affected individuals and communities, ensuring they receive the care and recognition they deserve; therefore, be it Resolved by the House of Delegates: Further Resolved, That the Senate encourages public awareness campaigns, educational initiatives, and community outreach efforts to inform and assist individuals affected by military-related toxic exposures, including veterans exposed to Agent Orange; and be it Further Resolved, That the Clerk transmit a copy of this resolution to the Governor, the Secretary of the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection, the Secretary of the West Virginia Department of Veterans Assistance, and to the members of the West Virginia Congressional delegation.
