SENATE RESOLUTION 37 (By Senators Phillips, Barrett, Charnock, Hart, Queen, Rose, Stuart, and Woodrum) [Introduced March 19, 2025] Recognizing the Energy Council on the occasion of its 50th anniversary. Whereas, The Senate of West Virginia is pleased to recognize the Energy Council on the occasion of the organization's 50th anniversary; and Whereas, Reliable and consistent energy is fundamental to economic stability and global security, and the steady supply of oil and gas is essential to sustain current consumer demands and to ensure energy independence; and Whereas, The Energy Council was established in 1975 as a nonpartisan forum for legislators in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico to learn and collaborate on energy policy and issues relevant to their constituents; the council has expanded to include 14 member states and the Canadian Provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan that actively participate in the development of state and federal energy and environmental policy; and Whereas, The Energy Council helps to inform lawmakers about economic markets and emerging technology and practices relating to an evolving energy landscape; its members utilize their knowledge of global trends and policies to formulate effective policy and to foster a comprehensive understanding of energy and the environment; and Whereas, For half a century, the Energy Council has remained at the forefront of discourse on energy generation and policy that shape Americans' daily lives, and its members are truly deserving of recognition for upholding its commitment to informed energy policy leadership; therefore, be it Resolved by the Senate: That the Senate hereby recognizes the Energy Council on the occasion of its 50th anniversary; and. be it Further Resolved, That the Senate hereby commends all associated with the Energy Council and extends to them congratulations on the organization's 50th anniversary; and, be it Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution to the Energy Council.
