7-AN ACT relating to motor vehicles; amending when
8-notification and reporting is required for motor vehicle
9-accidents; and providing for an effective date.
10-Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:
11-Section 1. W.S. 31-5-1105 and 31-5-1106(c) are
12-amended to read:
13-31-5-1105. Notice required of driver.
14-(a) The driver of a vehicle involved in an accident
15-resulting in injury to or death of any person, in property
16-damage to another or others to an apparent extent of at
17-least one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) or in any vehicle,
18-excluding bicycles or any other vehicle moved solely by
19-human power, becoming so disabled as to prevent its normal
20-and safe operation,
21-of communication give notice of the accident to:
22-(i) The local police department if the accident
23-occurs within a municipality;, otherwise or
24-(ii) To the nearest office of the state highway
25-patrol or to the office of the county sheriff.
26-(b) Subsection (a) of this section shall only apply
27-if the accident results in:
28-(i) Injury to or death of any person; or
29-(ii) Property damage to the extent the vehicle,
30-excluding bicycles or any other vehicle moved solely by
31-human power, is so disabled as to prevent its normal and

38-31-5-1106. Written reports required of police
39-officers; reporting of vehicles struck by bullets.
40-(c) Every police officer who investigates a motor
41-vehicle accident
42-of the accident to the highway department within ten (10)
43-days after his investigation of the accident if the motor
44-vehicle accident results in
45-(i) Bodily injury to or death of any person; or
46-(ii) Total property damage to
47-extent
48-vehicle is so disabled as to prevent its normal and safe
49-operation, either:
50-(A) At the time of and at the scene of the
51-accident; or thereafter by interviewing the participants or
52-witnesses shall forward a written report of the accident to
53-the highway department within ten (10) days after his
54-investigation of the accident.
55-(B) After the motor vehicle has been moved
56-from the scene of the accident and the police officer is
57-informed by the participants or witnesses of the accident
