27 | 27 | | 4 the United States attorney general or department of |
---|
28 | 28 | | 5 justice, as provided by 8 U.S.C. § 1357(g), for the |
---|
29 | 29 | | 6 enforcement of federal immigration and customs laws, |
---|
30 | 30 | | 7 detentions, removals and investigations in Wyoming. The |
---|
31 | 31 | | 8 agreement shall be signed by the sheriff and the board of |
---|
32 | 32 | | 9 county commissioners or as otherwise required by the |
---|
33 | 33 | | 10 appropriate federal agency. |

35 | 35 | | 12 (b) Not later than October 1, 2025 and each October 1 |

36 | 36 | | 13 thereafter, each county sheriff shall report to the Wyoming |

39 | 39 | | 16 (i) The status of negotiations with the United |

40 | 40 | | 17 States attorney general and the status of any agreement |
---|
41 | 41 | | 18 entered into under 8 U.S.C. § 1357(g); |

43 | 43 | | 20 (ii) Whether the United States attorney general |

44 | 44 | | 21 has declined to enter into an agreement with the county |
---|
45 | 45 | | 22 under 8 U.S.C. § 1357(g) and the reasons for declining; |

51 | 51 | | 6 (c) Not later than November 1, 2025 and each November |

52 | 52 | | 7 1 thereafter, the attorney general shall report to the |

53 | 53 | | 8 joint judiciary interim committee on the information that |

54 | 54 | | 9 each county sheriff communicated to the Wyoming attorney |
---|
55 | 55 | | 10 general under subsection (b) of this section. |

57 | 57 | | 12 (d) A county that fails to enter or fails to attempt |
---|
58 | 58 | | 13 to enter into an agreement required by subsection (a) of |
---|
59 | 59 | | 14 this section shall not be eligible to receive any state |
---|
60 | 60 | | 15 administered federal funds associated with law enforcement |
---|
61 | 61 | | 16 and law enforcement training for each fiscal year in which |
---|
62 | 62 | | 17 the county is not in compliance with subsection (a) of this |
---|
63 | 63 | | 18 section. A county that has reported to the Wyoming attorney |
---|
64 | 64 | | 19 general that the United States attorney general has |
---|
65 | 65 | | 20 declined to enter into an agreement under 8 U.S.C. § |
---|
66 | 66 | | 21 1357(g) shall not be subject to this subsection. |
---|
