A RESOLUTION 
 
Recognizing and honoring the 50th anniversary of The Energy Council. 1 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 2 
WHEREAS The Energy Council is celebrating its 50th anniversary; and  3 
WHEREAS the provision of reliable and consistent energy is critical to achieving 4 
economic stability and ensuring global security, and a steady supply of oil and gas is 5 
instrumental in meeting consumer demands and safeguarding energy independence; and  6 
WHEREAS The Energy Council was established in 1975 as a nonpartisan forum for 7 
legislators from Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico to engage in 8 
dialogue and to collaborate on energy policy that was pertinent to constituents; and  9 
WHEREAS The Energy Council has since expanded to include 14 member states and 10 
the Canadian provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan, thereby enriching the discourse on state 11 
and federal energy and environmental policy; and  12 
WHEREAS The Energy Council plays a vital role in informing lawmakers about 13 
economic trends and emerging technologies in an evolving energy landscape because its 14 
members adeptly leverage an understanding of global trends and policies to craft effective 15 
energy solutions and promote a comprehensive understanding of the interrelationship between 16    34-LS0748\A

energy and the environment; and  1 
WHEREAS, for five decades, The Energy Council has actively contributed to the 2 
discourse surrounding energy generation and policy that shapes the daily lives of Americans, 3 
and its members are highly deserving of commendation for a steadfast commitment to 4 
informed energy policy leadership; 5 
BE IT RESOLVED that the Alaska State Legislature is honored to extend its sincere 6 
commendations to all individuals associated with The Energy Council and offer genuine 7 
congratulations on the organization's 50th anniversary. 8 
COPIES of this resolution shall be sent to The Energy Council. 9
