11-2 ENROLLED, An Act,
12-3 Relating to crimes and offenses; to create the crime
13-4 of misrepresenting the police jurisdiction of a municipality;
14-5 to establish penalties for violations; and in connection
15-6 therewith would have as its purpose or effect the requirement
16-7 of a new or increased expenditure of local funds within the
17-8 meaning of Amendment 621 of the Constitution of Alabama of
18-9 1901, as amended by Amendment 890, now appearing as Section
19-10 111.05 of the Official Recompilation of the Constitution of
20-11 Alabama of 1901, as amended.
21-12 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
22-13 Section 1. (a)(1) A person commits the crime of
23-14 misrepresenting the police jurisdiction of a municipality if
24-15 he or she knowingly misrepresents, by use of a sign, marker,
25-16 or other marking, the police jurisdiction of a municipality.
26-17 (2) A public official shall be guilty of a violation
27-18 of this section if he or she instructs another person to
28-19 misrepresent the police jurisdiction of a municipality with
29-20 knowledge of the true boundary of the municipality.
30-21 (b) Misrepresenting the police jurisdiction of a
31-22 municipality is a Class A misdemeanor.
32-23 Section 2. Although this bill would have as its
33-24 purpose or effect the requirement of a new or increased
34-25 expenditure of local funds, the bill is excluded from further

36-1 requirements and application under Amendment 621, as amended
37-2 by Amendment 890, now appearing as Section 111.05 of the
38-3 Official Recompilation of the Constitution of Alabama of 1901,
39-4 as amended, because the bill defines a new crime or amends the
40-5 definition of an existing crime.
41-6 Section 3. This act shall become effective
42-7 immediately following its passage and approval by the
43-8 Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
