10		-	3 Relating to Choctaw County; authorizing the Choctaw
11		-	4 County Commission to levy an additional annual issuance fee
12		-	5 for motor vehicle tags; to provide for and the distribution of
13		-	6 proceeds to the Choctaw County Rescue Squad; and to provide
14		-	7 for an advisory referendum.
15		-	8 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
16		-	9 Section 1. This act shall only apply in Choctaw
17		-	10 County.
18		-	11 Section 2. For each motor vehicle as defined in
19		-	12 Section 40-12-240 of the Code of Alabama 1975, the Choctaw
20		-	13 County Commission may levy an additional annual issuance fee
21		-	14 of one dollar ($1) to be collected by the Choctaw County
22		-	15 Revenue Commissioner for the issuance and renewal of each
23		-	16 motor vehicle tag in the county. The proceeds collected from
24		-	17 the fee shall be deposited into the county general fund to be
25		-	18 distributed to the Choctaw County Rescue Squad to be used for
26		-	19 the operation of the rescue squad.
27		-	20 Section 3. This act shall be subject to an advisory
28		-	21 referendum in the county. The notice of the election shall be
29		-	22 given by the judge of probate and the election shall be held,
30		-	23 conducted, and the results canvassed in the manner as other
31		-	24 county elections. The election shall be held in conjunction
32		-	25 with the general election in November 2022. The question shall

34		-	1 be, "Do you favor the adoption of Act No. ____, of the 20__
35		-	2 __________ Legislative Session of the Alabama Legislature
36		-	3 authorizing the Choctaw County Commission to levy an
37		-	4 additional one dollar ($1) issuance fee on the issuance and
38		-	5 renewal of motor vehicle tags with the proceeds distributed to
39		-	6 the Choctaw County Rescue Squad? Yes ( ) No ( )." The county
40		-	7 shall pay any costs and expenses not otherwise reimbursed by a
41		-	8 governmental agency which are incidental to the election. The
42		-	9 Judge of Probate of Choctaw County shall certify the results
43		-	10 of the election to the Choctaw County Commission.
44		-	11 Section 4. This act shall become effective
45		-	12 immediately following its passage and approval by the
46		-	13 Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
