2 ENROLLED, An Act,
3 Relating to Choctaw County; authorizing the Choctaw
4 County Commission to levy an additional annual issuance fee
5 for motor vehicle tags; to provide for and the distribution of
6 proceeds to the Choctaw County Rescue Squad; and to provide
7 for an advisory referendum.
8 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
9 Section 1. This act shall only apply in Choctaw
10 County.
11 Section 2. For each motor vehicle as defined in
12 Section 40-12-240 of the Code of Alabama 1975, the Choctaw
13 County Commission may levy an additional annual issuance fee
14 of one dollar ($1) to be collected by the Choctaw County
15 Revenue Commissioner for the issuance and renewal of each
16 motor vehicle tag in the county. The proceeds collected from
17 the fee shall be deposited into the county general fund to be
18 distributed to the Choctaw County Rescue Squad to be used for
19 the operation of the rescue squad.
20 Section 3. This act shall be subject to an advisory
21 referendum in the county. The notice of the election shall be
22 given by the judge of probate and the election shall be held,
23 conducted, and the results canvassed in the manner as other
24 county elections. The election shall be held in conjunction
25 with the general election in November 2022. The question shall

1 be, "Do you favor the adoption of Act No. ____, of the 20__
2 __________ Legislative Session of the Alabama Legislature
3 authorizing the Choctaw County Commission to levy an
4 additional one dollar ($1) issuance fee on the issuance and
5 renewal of motor vehicle tags with the proceeds distributed to
6 the Choctaw County Rescue Squad? Yes ( ) No ( )." The county
7 shall pay any costs and expenses not otherwise reimbursed by a
8 governmental agency which are incidental to the election. The
9 Judge of Probate of Choctaw County shall certify the results
10 of the election to the Choctaw County Commission.
11 Section 4. This act shall become effective
12 immediately following its passage and approval by the
13 Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
