13 Relating to Madison County; to further provide for
14 the compensation of the Sheriff of Madison County effective
15 with the next term of office commencing in January 2023.
16 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
17 Section 1. Section 45-45-230.01 of the Code of
18 Alabama 1975, is amended to read as follows:
19 "ยง45-45-230.01.
20 "(a) Commencing with the next term of office
21 beginning in January of 1999 2023, the Sheriff of Madison
22 County shall receive an annual salary of seventy thousand
23 dollars ($70,000) one hundred fifty thousand dollars
24 ($150,000).
25 "(b) In addition to the salary provided in
26 subsection (a), the Sheriff of Madison County shall be
27 entitled to participate in the county health insurance plan
Page 1 1 and receive any other benefits to the same extent, under the
2 same conditions, in the same manner as county employees and
3 the sheriff shall be entitled to receive uniform increases in
4 compensation, such as cost-of-living raises, in the same
5 amount as uniform increases in compensation granted equally to
6 county employees by the county commission.
7 "(b)(c) The Sheriff of Madison County shall not
8 receive any monetary compensation of any kind other than
9 reimbursements for itemized expenses and other than the annual
10 salary compensation set forth herein."
11 Section 2. This act shall be effective on the
12 expiration of the term of the incumbent sheriff in January
13 2023.
