1414 8 COMMENDING REPRESENTATIVE KOVEN BROWN FOR
1515 9 DISTINGUISHED LEGISLATIVE SERVICE.

1717 11 WHEREAS, we note with utmost admiration and
1818 12 appreciation the distinguished service of our friend and
1919 13 colleague, Representative Koven "K.L." Brown, who has
2020 14 diligently served the citizens of the State of Alabama and
2121 15 House District 40 in Calhoun County; and
2222 16 WHEREAS, since becoming a member of the Alabama
2323 17 State House of Representatives in 2010, Representative Brown
2424 18 has been actively involved in the legislative process through
2525 19 his varied responsibilities; and
2626 20 WHEREAS, Representative Brown is a graduate of
2727 21 Jefferson Davis High School; the Kentucky School of Mortuary
2828 22 Science in Louisville, Kentucky; and the Academy of
2929 23 Professional Funeral Service Practice; he has served the Child
3030 24 and Senior Advocacy Committee as Chairman, as well as the
3131 25 Agriculture and Forestry Committee, the Economic Development
3232 26 and Tourism Committee, and the Ways and Means General Fund
3333 27 Committee; he is a member of First United Methodist Church of
3434 Page 1 1 Jacksonville, Alabama; a member and Past President of the
3535 2 Jacksonville Exchange Club; a member of the Calhoun County
3636 3 Chamber of Commerce; a member and Past President of the
3737 4 Alabama Funeral Directors Association; Chairman of the
3838 5 International Endowment Foundation Board of Jacksonville State
3939 6 University; a member of Hiram Lodge Number 42, F and AM; and
4040 7 retired owner of K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Crematory in
4141 8 Jacksonville, Alabama, and K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in
4242 9 Anniston, Alabama; and
4343 10 WHEREAS, a dedicated family man, Representative
4444 11 Brown and his wife, Mandee, have two children, Emily Elizabeth
4545 12 Avery and Allison Faye Brown (deceased); and five
4646 13 grandchildren, Austin Brian Goodwin, Savannah Faye Goodwin,
4747 14 Tyler Scott Brown, Charlie Madison Avery, and Emmett Miles
4848 15 Avery; and
4949 16 WHEREAS, Representative Brown's commitment to public
5050 17 service is unsurpassed; we are privileged to have served with
5151 18 this exemplary Alabama statesman; now therefore,
5252 19 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
5353 20 HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That we hereby heartily commend
5454 21 Representative Koven "K.L." Brown for his outstanding record
5555 22 of service to the citizens of House District 40 and the State
5656 23 of Alabama and for his invaluable contributions to this body
5757 24 over the years; we direct that a copy of this resolution be
5858 25 presented to Representative Brown with our highest esteem and
5959 26 appreciation.
