8	COMMENDING REPRESENTATIVE KOVEN BROWN FOR
9 DISTINGUISHED LEGISLATIVE SERVICE.

11	WHEREAS, we note with utmost admiration and
12 appreciation the distinguished service of our friend and
13 colleague, Representative Koven "K.L." Brown, who has
14 diligently served the citizens of the State of Alabama and
15 House District 40 in Calhoun County; and
16	WHEREAS, since becoming a member of the Alabama
17 State House of Representatives in 2010, Representative Brown
18 has been actively involved in the legislative process through
19 his varied responsibilities; and
20	WHEREAS, Representative Brown is a graduate of
21 Jefferson Davis High School; the Kentucky School of Mortuary
22 Science in Louisville, Kentucky; and the Academy of
23 Professional Funeral Service Practice; he has served the Child
24 and Senior Advocacy Committee as Chairman, as well as the
25 Agriculture and Forestry Committee, the Economic Development
26 and Tourism Committee, and the Ways and Means General Fund
27 Committee; he is a member of First United Methodist Church of
Page 1 1 Jacksonville, Alabama; a member and Past President of the
2 Jacksonville Exchange Club; a member of the Calhoun County
3 Chamber of Commerce; a member and Past President of the
4 Alabama Funeral Directors Association; Chairman of the
5 International Endowment Foundation Board of Jacksonville State
6 University; a member of Hiram Lodge Number 42, F and AM; and
7 retired owner of K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Crematory in
8 Jacksonville, Alabama, and K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in
9 Anniston, Alabama; and
10	WHEREAS, a dedicated family man, Representative
11 Brown and his wife, Mandee, have two children, Emily Elizabeth
12 Avery and Allison Faye Brown (deceased); and five
13 grandchildren, Austin Brian Goodwin, Savannah Faye Goodwin,
14 Tyler Scott Brown, Charlie Madison Avery, and Emmett Miles
15 Avery; and
16	WHEREAS, Representative Brown's commitment to public
17 service is unsurpassed; we are privileged to have served with
18 this exemplary Alabama statesman; now therefore,
19	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
20 HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That we hereby heartily commend
21 Representative Koven "K.L." Brown for his outstanding record
22 of service to the citizens of House District 40 and the State
23 of Alabama and for his invaluable contributions to this body
24 over the years; we direct that a copy of this resolution be
25 presented to Representative Brown with our highest esteem and
26 appreciation.
