10-3 RECOGNIZING THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE JUNIOR
11-4 LEAGUE OF BIRMINGHAM.

13-6 WHEREAS, it is a distinct privilege to recognize the
14-7 100th Anniversary of the Junior League of Birmingham; and
15-8 WHEREAS, on May 10, 1922, the Junior League of
16-9 Birmingham held its first meeting at South Highland
17-10 Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, Alabama; and
18-11 WHEREAS, the Junior League of Birmingham is an
19-12 organization of over 2,000 women committed to the mission of
20-13 promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and
21-14 improving the community through the effective action and
22-15 leadership of trained volunteers; and
23-16 WHEREAS, the Junior League of Birmingham is the
24-17 ninth largest league; and
25-18 WHEREAS, throughout the years, the Junior League of
26-19 Birmingham has assisted in the development of various
27-20 organizations to better the community of Birmingham, including
28-21 the development of the Birmingham Children's Theater, the
29-22 Visiting Nurses Association, the Junior League Speech and
30-23 Hearing, Magic Moments, the Birmingham/Jefferson County Family
31-24 Violence Project, Better Basics, Literacy Council of Central
32-25 Alabama, Teen Court of the Alabama Center for Law and Civic

34-1 Education, and as an affiliate of the Dolly Parton Imagination
35-2 Library; and
36-3 WHEREAS, the Junior League of Birmingham welcomes
37-4 all women, valuing differences as assets by creating a culture
38-5 of inclusivity where the JLB is grounded to the mission,
39-6 recognizing this is what ties the Junior League of Birmingham
40-7 together; and
41-8 WHEREAS, the Junior League of Birmingham believes
42-9 that four Impact Areas are fundamental to the overall
43-10 well-being of a community and its individuals, including
44-11 Economic Security and Financial Stability, Education and
45-12 Culture, Health and Wellness, and Safety and Crisis; and
46-13 WHEREAS, last year the Junior League of Birmingham
47-14 provided over 45,000 volunteer hours in the Birmingham
48-15 community with a $1.28 million total volunteer impact and
49-16 provided funds and volunteers for over 40 community projects
50-17 in the Birmingham area; and
51-18 WHEREAS, the Junior League of Birmingham has
52-19 demonstrated a record of leadership and volunteerism within
53-20 the community and is one of the leading service organizations
54-21 in Alabama; now therefore,
55-22 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
56-23 HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That we recognize the 100th
57-24 Anniversary of the Junior League of Birmingham, and we extend
58-25 to all membership, the highest tribute and deepest adoration,

61-2 accomplishments of this organization.
