23+SYNOPSIS:
24+Under existing law, a law enforcement officer
25+must successfully complete 12 hours of continuing
26+education training approved by the Alabama Peace
27+Officers' Standards and Training Commission.
28+This bill would require the Alabama Peace
29+Officers' Standards and Training Commission to
30+collaborate with a nonprofit company to provide annual
31+training about interacting with individuals with
32+sensory needs or invisible disabilities.

35+AN ACT
2536 Relating to law enforcement training; to require each
26-law enforcement officer to undergo training related to

3142 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
32-Section 1. (a) This act shall be known and may be cited
33-as the Cade Noah Act.
34-(b)(1) Beginning January 1, 2024, the Alabama Peace
35-Officers' Standards and Training Commission (APOSTC) shall
36-require each law enforcement officer certified by APOSTC to
37-complete one hour of training on interacting with individuals
38-with sensory needs or invisible disabilities every other year.
39-This training shall be in addition to the continuing education
40-course requirement under Section 36-21-51, Code of Alabama
41-1975.
42-(2) The commission shall collaborate with a nonprofit
43-company that provides training on individuals with sensory
44-needs or invisible disabilities to administer the training
45-required by this subsection. The company shall provide the
46-required training related to individuals with sensory needs or
47-invisible disabilities without compensation. The training may
48-be provided in person or online.
49-(c)(1) The commission shall review each law enforcement

74+shall require each law enforcement officer, as part of the
75+continuing education course requirement under Section
76+36-21-51, Code of Alabama 1975, to annually complete one hour
77+of training on interacting with individuals with sensory needs
78+or invisible disabilities.
79+(2) The commission shall collaborate with a nonprofit
80+company that provides training on individuals with sensory
81+needs or invisible disabilities to administer the training
82+required by this subsection. The company shall provide the
83+required training related to individuals with sensory needs or
84+invisible disabilities without compensation. The training may

86+(b)(1) The commission shall review each law enforcement
