17+AN ACT
1518 Relating to Marshall County; to further provide for the
1619 residency requirement of the county engineer.
1720 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
1821 Section 1. Section 45-48-130 of the Code of Alabama
1922 1975, is amended to read as follows:
2023 "ยง45-48-130
2124 The county commission shall employ a county engineer,
2225 who shall be a thoroughly qualified and competent civil
2326 engineer, possessing all the qualifications as specified for
2427 county engineers under the general laws of the State of
2528 Alabama;. and he or she The county engineer shall devote his
2629 or her entire time and attention to the maintenance and
2730 construction of the public roads, highways, bridges, parks,
2831 and other public properties of Marshall County ; and shall
2932 reside in Marshall County or a county that is adjacent to
3033 Marshall County during his or her employment as county
3134 engineer. Termination of the employment of the county engineer
3235 shall only be made by an affirmative vote of four members of
3336 the county commission at a regular session of the commission
3437 and with the approval by a majority vote of the Marshall
35-County Salary Commission."
36-Section 2. This act shall become effective immediately
37-following its passage and approval by the Governor, or its
38-otherwise becoming law.
