| 18 | 25 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA: | |
| 19 | 26 | Section 1. Any Department of Corrections officer | |
| 20 | 27 | certified by the Alabama Peace Officers' Standards and | |
| 21 | 28 | Training Commission, including a K-9 handler, may use a police | |
| 22 | 29 | animal or search and rescue animal, as defined in Section | |
| 23 | 30 | 13A-11-260, Code of Alabama 1975, to assist any law | |
| 24 | 31 | enforcement agency with public safety. | |
| 25 | 32 | Section 2. This act shall become effective immediately | |
| 26 | 33 | following its passage and approval by the Governor, or its | |
| 27 | 34 | otherwise becoming law. | |
