| 16 | 16 | AN ACT | |
| 17 | 17 | Relating to Jefferson County; to further provide for | |
| 18 | 18 | the annual salary of the county tax assessor and tax | |
| 19 | 19 | collector. | |
| 20 | 20 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA: | |
| 21 | 21 | Section 1. Effective immediately, in Jefferson County | |
| 22 | 22 | the annual salary for the Tax Assessor and the Tax Collector | |
| 23 | 23 | shall be an amount that is the greater of the following: | |
| 24 | 24 | (1) Ten percent above the highest annual salary for a | |
| 25 | 25 | merit system employee in the Tax Assessor's or Tax Collector's | |
| 26 | 26 | respective office. | |
| 27 | 27 | (2) The annual salary for the Tax Assessor or the Tax | |
| 28 | 28 | Collector as otherwise provided by law. | |
| 29 | 29 | Section 2. This act shall become effective immediately | |
| 30 | 30 | following its passage and approval by the Governor, or its | |
| 31 | 31 | otherwise becoming law. | |
