25	25		SJR___ HONORING THE LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENTS OF MR. DERRILL
26	26		BOOTH.
27	27		WHEREAS, with great pride and special pleasure, we
28	28		highly honor Mr. Derrill Booth for his incredible lifetime
29	29		achievements; and
30	30		WHEREAS, Mr. Booth was born on September 26, 1956, to
31	31		Irene and Breeland Booth; he grew up in Coker, Alabama,
32	32		where he has significantly impacted his community; and
33	33		WHEREAS, a man who has dedicated his life to serving
34	34		others, Mr. Booth is a beloved member of his community,
35	35		known for his selflessness and his tireless work ethic; he
36	36		is a man of public service, community building, and
37	37		leadership; throughout his life, he has been devoted to his
38	38		family, his community, and his profession; and
39	39		WHEREAS, in 2000, Mr. Booth began his career in
40	40		public service when he was elected to the Coker City
41	41		Council; during his four years on the council, he worked
42	42		tirelessly to promote economic development, enhance public
43	43		safety, and improve the overall quality of life in his
44	44		community; in 2004, he was elected as the Mayor of Coker,
45	45		where he continued his commitment to public service and led
46	46		his city through challenging times, advocating for policies
47	47		that helped Coker grow and thrive; and
48	48		WHEREAS, some of Mr. Booth's other lifetime

79	79		County Board of Education Steering Committee for Sipsey
80	80		Valley Middle School and Sipsey Valley High School; serving
81	81		as a volunteer firefighter with the Coker Volunteer Fire
82	82		Department from 2000 to 2009 and with the Romulus Volunteer
83	83		Fire Department from 2010 to 2023; being named Coker
84	84		Volunteer Firefighter of the Year in 2009 and receiving the
85	85		Tuscaloosa County Fire Protection Association Presidential
86	86		Award in 2010 and 2016; serving as Vice President of the
87	87		Tuscaloosa County Fire Protection Association from 2010 to
88	88		2023; and operating his family business, Breeland Booth
89	89		Septic Tank Company, for over 40 years; and
90	90		WHEREAS, Mr. Booth and his wife, Deborah Jo Booth,
91	91		are blessed with two children, Joshua Derrill
92	92		Booth and Kimberly D. Kimberly; two granddaughters, Taylor
93	93		Sanford and Kairi Sanford; one step-grandson, Isaiah Byrd
94	94		"Zay"; and one great-granddaughter, Grey Sanford; and
95	95		WHEREAS, Mr. Booth is a man of leadership, service, and
96	96		dedication to his community; he believes in the power of
97	97		public service to bring people together and make positive
98	98		change, and he is a role model to many, inspiring them to
99	99		follow in his footsteps and work tirelessly to improve their
100	100		communities; his family is at the center of his life, whom
101	101		he instills with the values of hard work, service, and
102	102		kindness; his children and grandchildren view him as a role
103	103		model and a source of inspiration; furthermore, Mr. Booth's
104	104		life is a testament to the power of public service and the
105	105		impact that one person can have on his or her community; he

137	137		and is a man of integrity and character with an unwavering
138	138		commitment to making the world a better place; now

140	140		BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
141	141		HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That we highly honor Mr. Derrill
142	142		Booth for his incredible lifetime achievements, and we
143	143		hereby dedicate this resolution to him with utmost
144	144		appreciation and admiration, along with sincere best wishes
145	145		for continued happiness and success in all future endeavors.
