2525 SJR___ HONORING THE LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENTS OF MR. DERRILL
2626 BOOTH.
2727 WHEREAS, with great pride and special pleasure, we
2828 highly honor Mr. Derrill Booth for his incredible lifetime
2929 achievements; and
3030 WHEREAS, Mr. Booth was born on September 26, 1956, to
3131 Irene and Breeland Booth; he grew up in Coker, Alabama,
3232 where he has significantly impacted his community; and
3333 WHEREAS, a man who has dedicated his life to serving
3434 others, Mr. Booth is a beloved member of his community,
3535 known for his selflessness and his tireless work ethic; he
3636 is a man of public service, community building, and
3737 leadership; throughout his life, he has been devoted to his
3838 family, his community, and his profession; and
3939 WHEREAS, in 2000, Mr. Booth began his career in
4040 public service when he was elected to the Coker City
4141 Council; during his four years on the council, he worked
4242 tirelessly to promote economic development, enhance public
4343 safety, and improve the overall quality of life in his
4444 community; in 2004, he was elected as the Mayor of Coker,
4545 where he continued his commitment to public service and led
4646 his city through challenging times, advocating for policies
4747 that helped Coker grow and thrive; and
4848 WHEREAS, some of Mr. Booth's other lifetime

7979 County Board of Education Steering Committee for Sipsey
8080 Valley Middle School and Sipsey Valley High School; serving
8181 as a volunteer firefighter with the Coker Volunteer Fire
8282 Department from 2000 to 2009 and with the Romulus Volunteer
8383 Fire Department from 2010 to 2023; being named Coker
8484 Volunteer Firefighter of the Year in 2009 and receiving the
8585 Tuscaloosa County Fire Protection Association Presidential
8686 Award in 2010 and 2016; serving as Vice President of the
8787 Tuscaloosa County Fire Protection Association from 2010 to
8888 2023; and operating his family business, Breeland Booth
8989 Septic Tank Company, for over 40 years; and
9090 WHEREAS, Mr. Booth and his wife, Deborah Jo Booth,
9191 are blessed with two children, Joshua Derrill
9292 Booth and Kimberly D. Kimberly; two granddaughters, Taylor
9393 Sanford and Kairi Sanford; one step-grandson, Isaiah Byrd
9494 "Zay"; and one great-granddaughter, Grey Sanford; and
9595 WHEREAS, Mr. Booth is a man of leadership, service, and
9696 dedication to his community; he believes in the power of
9797 public service to bring people together and make positive
9898 change, and he is a role model to many, inspiring them to
9999 follow in his footsteps and work tirelessly to improve their
100100 communities; his family is at the center of his life, whom
101101 he instills with the values of hard work, service, and
102102 kindness; his children and grandchildren view him as a role
103103 model and a source of inspiration; furthermore, Mr. Booth's
104104 life is a testament to the power of public service and the
105105 impact that one person can have on his or her community; he

141141 HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That we highly honor Mr. Derrill
142142 Booth for his incredible lifetime achievements, and we

144144 appreciation and admiration, along with sincere best wishes
