SJR___ HONORING THE LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENTS OF MR. DERRILL
BOOTH.
       WHEREAS, with great pride and special pleasure, we
highly honor Mr. Derrill Booth for his incredible lifetime
achievements; and
       WHEREAS, Mr. Booth was born on September 26, 1956, to
Irene and Breeland Booth; he grew up in Coker, Alabama,
where he has significantly impacted his community; and 
      WHEREAS, a man who has dedicated his life to serving
others, Mr. Booth is a beloved member of his community,
known for his selflessness and his tireless work ethic; he
is a man of public service, community building, and
leadership; throughout his life, he has been devoted to his
family, his community, and his profession; and
     WHEREAS, in 2000, Mr. Booth began his career in
public service when he was elected to the Coker City
Council; during his four years on the council, he worked
tirelessly to promote economic development, enhance public
safety, and improve the overall quality of life in his
community; in 2004, he was elected as the Mayor of Coker,
where he continued his commitment to public service and led
his city through challenging times, advocating for policies
that helped Coker grow and thrive; and
       WHEREAS, some of Mr. Booth's other lifetime

achievements include serving as a member of the Tuscaloosa
County Board of Education Steering Committee for Sipsey
Valley Middle School and Sipsey Valley High School; serving
as a volunteer firefighter with the Coker Volunteer Fire
Department from 2000 to 2009 and with the Romulus Volunteer
Fire Department from 2010 to 2023; being named Coker
Volunteer Firefighter of the Year in 2009 and receiving the
Tuscaloosa County Fire Protection Association Presidential
Award in 2010 and 2016; serving as Vice President of the
Tuscaloosa County Fire Protection Association from 2010 to
2023; and operating his family business, Breeland Booth
Septic Tank Company, for over 40 years; and
     WHEREAS, Mr. Booth and his wife, Deborah Jo Booth,
are blessed with two children, Joshua Derrill
Booth and Kimberly D. Kimberly; two granddaughters, Taylor
Sanford and Kairi Sanford; one step-grandson, Isaiah Byrd
"Zay"; and one great-granddaughter, Grey Sanford; and
    WHEREAS, Mr. Booth is a man of leadership, service, and
dedication to his community; he believes in the power of
public service to bring people together and make positive
change, and he is a role model to many, inspiring them to
follow in his footsteps and work tirelessly to improve their
communities; his family is at the center of his life, whom
he instills with the values of hard work, service, and
kindness; his children and grandchildren view him as a role
model and a source of inspiration; furthermore, Mr. Booth's
life is a testament to the power of public service and the
impact that one person can have on his or her community; he

has touched many lives and has helped build numerous
organizations and initiatives; he is a true public servant
and is a man of integrity and character with an unwavering
commitment to making the world a better place; now
therefore,
       BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That we highly honor Mr. Derrill
Booth for his incredible lifetime achievements, and we
hereby dedicate this resolution to him with utmost
appreciation and admiration, along with sincere best wishes
for continued happiness and success in all future endeavors.
