17+AN ACT
1618 Relating to Blount County; to further provide for the
1719 expense allowance and salary of the coroner; and to repeal
1820 Section 45-6-60.1 of the Code of Alabama 1975, relating to the
1921 salary of the coroner.
2022 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
2123 Section 1. (a) Commencing on October 1, 2024, the
2224 Coroner of Blount County shall be entitled to an additional
2325 expense allowance in the amount of eighteen thousand dollars
2426 ($18,000) per annum, which shall be in addition to all other
2527 expense allowances, compensation, or salary provided by law.
2628 This expense allowance shall be payable from the general fund
2729 of the county.
2830 (b) Beginning with the next term of the coroner
2931 commencing in January 2027, the annual salary for the Coroner
3032 of Blount County shall be thirty thousand dollars ($30,000)
3133 per annum, payable from the general fund of the county and at
3234 that time subsection (a) shall become void. The salary
3335 provided in this subsection shall be in lieu of any other
3436 salary, compensation, fees, or allowances provided to the
3537 coroner except for any health insurance benefits provided to
3638 the coroner.
37-(c) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the
38-coroner shall be entitled to receive the same cost-of-living
39-or other uniform increases in compensation granted to county
40-employees. Effective beginning the next term of office, the
41-base salary of the coroner shall be increased to reflect any
42-uniform increases during the prior term.

68+the coroner.
69+(c) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the
70+coroner shall be entitled to receive the same cost-of-living
71+or other uniform increases in compensation granted to county
72+employees. Effective beginning the next term of office, the
73+base salary of the coroner shall be increased to reflect any
7274 uniform increases during the prior term.
7375 (d) The Blount County Commission may authorize the
7476 coroner to receive reasonable and necessary expenses and
7577 supplies, including transportation expenses, as determined by
7678 the county commission related to the operations of the office
7779 of coroner and the performance of duties of the coroner. The
7880 expenses and supplies authorized by this section shall be
7981 subject to the approval of the county commission and shall be
8082 paid in the same manner as expenses of other county employees.
8183 (e) The Blount County Commission may authorize the
8284 coroner to appoint deputy coroners as needed and may provide
8385 for the compensation of the deputies from the general fund of
8486 the county.
8587 Section 2. Effective on the expiration of the term of
8688 the incumbent coroner in January 2027, Section 45-5-60.01 of
8789 the Code of Alabama 1975, relating to the salary of the
8890 coroner, is repealed.
8991 Section 3. This act shall become effective October 1,
