17+SYNOPSIS:
18+Under existing law, classroom instruction or
19+discussions may not be provided to public school
20+students in kindergarten through fifth grade in a
21+manner that is not age or developmentally appropriate
22+or is not in accordance with state standards.
23+This bill would provide that classroom
24+instruction or discussions related to gender identity
25+or sexual orientation may not be provided to public
26+school students in kindergarten through twelfth grade.

1929 AN ACT
2030 Relating to education; to amend Section 16-40A-5, Code
21-of Alabama 1975; to prohibit certain classroom instruction in
22-kindergarten through the eighth grade related to gender
23-identity or sexual orientation in public K-12 schools; and to
24-prohibit the display of certain flags and insignia in public
25-K-12 schools.

2633 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
2734 Section 1. Section 16-40A-5, Code of Alabama 1975, is
2835 amended to read as follows:
2936 "ยง16-40A-5
3037 (a) An individual or group of individuals providing
31-classroom instruction to students in kindergarten through the
32-fiftheighth grade at a public K-12 school shall not engage in
33-classroom discussion or provide classroom instruction
34-regarding sexual orientation or gender identity in a manner
35-that is not age appropriate or developmentally appropriate for
36-students in accordance with state standards.
37-(b) No teacher, or other public K-12 employee, may
38-display a flag or other insignia relating to or representing

71-(b)(c) The State Board of Education shall adopt rules
72-for the implementation and enforcement of this section."
