A BILL
TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
Relating to Baldwin County; to amend Section
45-2-230.03, Code of Alabama 1975; to further provide for the
compensation of the sheriff.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
Section 1. Section 45-2-230.03, Code of Alabama 1975,
is amended to read as follows:
"ยง45-2-230.03
(a) Commencing on March 28, 2022June 1, 2024, the
Sheriff of Baldwin County shall receive an additional expense
allowance in an amount so that the total compensation of the
sheriff is one hundred thirty thousand dollars ($130,000) one
hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) per year. This
expense allowance shall be payable in equal monthly
installments from the general fund of the county.
(b) Commencing with the next term of office of the
Sheriff of Baldwin County beginning after June 1, 2024 , the
sheriff shall receive an annual salary of one hundred thirty
thousand dollars ($130,000) one hundred fifty thousand dollars
($150,000) in lieu of any and all compensation now provided by
law.

law.
(c) Commencing with the next term of office of the
Sheriff of Baldwin County, should any employee of the office
of the Sheriff of Baldwin County receive a cost-of-living
compensation adjustment, that same cost-of-living adjustment
shall apply to the sheriff's compensation. Any increase
granted to the sheriff pursuant to this subsection shall be
disbursed to the sheriff as an expense allowance until the end
of that term of office as sheriff, at which time the increase
shall be converted to salary."
Section 2. This act shall become effective on June 1,
2024.
