126 | 126 | | Section 1. This act shall be known and may be cited as |
---|
127 | 127 | | the Alabama Workforce Transformation Act. |
---|
128 | 128 | | Section 2. The Alabama Department of Labor is hereby |
---|
129 | 129 | | renamed the Alabama Department of Workforce, and the head of |
---|
130 | 130 | | the department shall be known and designated as the Secretary |
---|
131 | 131 | | of Workforce. Any reference in Alabama law or in any contract, |
---|
132 | 132 | | deed, financial instrument or other legal document to the |
---|
133 | 133 | | Alabama Department of Labor or Secretary of Labor shall be |
---|
134 | 134 | | interpreted to mean the Alabama Department of Workforce or the |
---|
135 | 135 | | Secretary of Workforce as necessary to accomplish the purposes |
---|
136 | 136 | | of this act. The Code Commissioner shall conform references in |
---|
137 | 137 | | the Code of Alabama 1975, to existing departments, offices, |
---|
138 | 138 | | officers, and other state entities or positions to reflect the |
---|
139 | 139 | | changes required by this act. Code changes shall be made at a |
---|
140 | 140 | | time determined to be appropriate by the Code Commissioner. |
---|
141 | 141 | | Section 3. Section 25-2-2, Code of Alabama 1975, is |
---|
142 | 142 | | amended to read as follows: |

145 | 145 | | of LaborWorkforce shall be as follows: |

148 | 148 | | laws relating to hours of work, and working conditions in |

---|
151 | 151 | | inspections to determine whether or not the laws, the |
---|
152 | 152 | | administration of which is delegated to the Department of |
---|

188 | 188 | | insured by an insurance company authorized to do business in |

189 | 189 | | the State of Alabama. Provided, however, that this provision |

190 | 190 | | may not prevent compliance verification by the department. |
---|
191 | 191 | | (3) To propose to the board of appeals, provided for in |
---|
192 | 192 | | this chapter, such rules and regulations, or amendments as may |
---|
193 | 193 | | be deemed advisable for the prevention of accidents or the |
---|
194 | 194 | | prevention of sickness and diseases in mines. The Secretary of |
---|
195 | 195 | | LaborWorkforce may appoint committees composed of employers, |
---|
196 | 196 | | employees, and experts to suggest and assist in the |
---|
197 | 197 | | preparation of rules and regulations or amendments. |
---|
198 | 198 | | (4) To administer and perform, by and under the |
---|
199 | 199 | | direction of the Secretary of LaborWorkforce, all functions |
---|
200 | 200 | | and duties of Chapter 4 of this title, and it shall have power |
---|
201 | 201 | | and authority to adopt and enforce all reasonable rules and |
---|
202 | 202 | | orders necessary or suitable to that end, and to require any |
---|
203 | 203 | | reports, and to take any other action, consistent with Chapter |
---|
204 | 204 | | 4 of this title, necessary or suitable to that end. |

205 | 205 | | (5) To cooperate with all authorities of the United |
---|
206 | 206 | | States having powers and duties under the Wagner-Peyser Act, |

250 | 250 | | and duties of Chapter 5 of this title, and it shall have power |

---|
252 | 252 | | orders necessary or suitable to that end, and to require any |
---|

---|
264 | 264 | | laws relating to the Department of LaborWorkforce. The |
---|
265 | 265 | | Secretary of LaborWorkforce shall deliver a copy of each such |
---|
266 | 266 | | report to every person making application therefor. |
---|
267 | 267 | | (8) To make an annual report to the Governor covering |
---|
268 | 268 | | the activities and accomplishments of the Department of |

---|
