| 19 | 21 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA: | |
| 20 | 22 | Section 1. Section 45-22-234, Code of Alabama 1975, is | |
| 21 | 23 | amended to read as follows: | |
| 22 | 24 | "ยง45-22-234 | |
| 23 | 25 | (a) Any individual employed by the Cullman County | |
| 24 | 26 | Sheriff's Office as a law enforcement officer for a period of | |
| 25 | 27 | 10 years or more who retires from the department in good | |
| 26 | 28 | standing may receive from the sheriff, without cost, a retired | |
| 27 | 29 | badge, a retired commission card, and a pistol, provided the | |
| 28 | 30 | pistol is any weapons furnished by the department. | |
| 29 | 31 | (b) This section shall have retroactive effect to | |
| 30 | 32 | January 1, 1999, upon its passage and approval by the Governor | |
| 31 | 33 | or upon its otherwise becoming a law ." | |
| 32 | 34 | Section 2. This act shall become effective on October | |
