Enrolled, An Act,
Relating to Cullman County; to amend Section 45-22-234,
Code of Alabama 1975; to further provide for certain
individuals who retire from the sheriff's department.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
Section 1. Section 45-22-234, Code of Alabama 1975, is
amended to read as follows:
"ยง45-22-234
(a) Any individual employed by the Cullman County
Sheriff's Office as a law enforcement officer for a period of
10 years or more who retires from the department in good
standing may receive from the sheriff, without cost, a retired
badge, a retired commission card, and a pistol, provided the
pistol is any weapons furnished by the department.
(b) This section shall have retroactive effect to
January 1, 1999, upon its passage and approval by the Governor
or upon its otherwise becoming a law ."
Section 2. This act shall become effective on October
1, 2024.
