18	20		Relating to Lamar County; to further provide for the
19	21		salary of the judge of probate.
20	22		BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
21	23		Section 1. (a) Effective beginning the next term of
22	24		office after June 1, 2024, the Judge of Probate of Lamar
23	25		County shall receive as his or her total compensation a salary
24	26		of one hundred ten thousand one hundred sixteen dollars
25	27		($110,116) per year. The compensation provided by this section
26	28		is inclusive and shall compensate the judge of probate for
27	29		service as chair of the county commission and for
28	30		administration of the one-stop tag program in the county, if
29	31		applicable. The salary shall be paid from the general fund of
30	32		Lamar County and shall be the total compensation of the judge
31	33		of probate except as provided in subsection (b).
32	34		(b) Effective beginning the next term of office after
33	35		June 1, 2024, in addition to the salary provided in subsection
34	36		(a), the judge of probate shall receive the same uniform
35	37		increases in compensation, including cost-of-living or other
36	38		similar increases granted to other county officers. During a
37	39		term of the judge of probate, the uniform increases shall be
38		-	paid as an additional expense allowance, and, effective
39		-	beginning the next term of office thereafter, the cumulative
40		-	expense allowances during the term shall be converted to
41		-	salary.
42		-	Section 2. This act shall become effective June 1,
43		-	2024.
