Enrolled, An Act,
Relating to Lamar County; to further provide for the
salary of the judge of probate.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
Section 1. (a) Effective beginning the next term of
office after June 1, 2024, the Judge of Probate of Lamar
County shall receive as his or her total compensation a salary
of one hundred ten thousand one hundred sixteen dollars
($110,116) per year. The compensation provided by this section
is inclusive and shall compensate the judge of probate for
service as chair of the county commission and for
administration of the one-stop tag program in the county, if
applicable. The salary shall be paid from the general fund of
Lamar County and shall be the total compensation of the judge
of probate except as provided in subsection (b).
(b) Effective beginning the next term of office after
June 1, 2024, in addition to the salary provided in subsection
(a), the judge of probate shall receive the same uniform
increases in compensation, including cost-of-living or other
similar increases granted to other county officers. During a
term of the judge of probate, the uniform increases shall be
paid as an additional expense allowance, and, effective
beginning the next term of office thereafter, the cumulative
expense allowances during the term shall be converted to
salary. 
Section 2. This act shall become effective June 1,
2024.
