1515 HR____ COMMENDING MRS. MOLLIE MACLEROY BEARDEN FOR
1616 OUTSTANDING PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT.
1717 WHEREAS, highest commendations are herein presented
1818 to Mrs Mollie MacLeroy Bearden on being honored by the
1919 Willie and Betty Farrior Family Foundation for her
2020 outstanding service to the Talladega community and the State
2121 of Alabama; and
2222 WHEREAS, the Willie and Betty Farrior Family
2323 Foundation is a nonprofit organization established in March
2424 of 2017, by Colonel (Retired) Cedrick A. Farrior in memory
2525 of his grandparents; both were native Alabamians who
2626 unfortunately lost their vision at an early age; they
2727 attended the Alabama School for the Negro Deaf and Blind in
2828 Talladega, Alabama; they were married in October 1945;
2929 Willie was the first Black individual to be employed at the
3030 Alabama Industries for the Blind in June 1950; Willie
3131 retired after completion of 40 years of employment; Betty
3232 retired after 27 years of employment; and
3333 WHEREAS, Mrs. Mollie MacLeroy Bearden is the daughter
3434 of Edward MacLeroy and Mrs. Lola MacLeroy; she and her
3535 husband, Donald "Terry" Bearden, are blessed with two
3636 children, Tracy Bearden and Donald Bearden; they have four
3737 grandchildren, Shelby Floyd, Brynn Gortney, Brantley
3838 Bearden, and Easton Bearden; and three great-grandchildren;

6868 Bearden, and Easton Bearden; and three great-grandchildren;

7070 WHEREAS, in 1994, Mrs. Bearden started a local
7171 chapter of Individual and Family Support, a support group to
7272 cover Talladega, Coosa, Clay, and Randolph Counties; that
7373 was the birth of Cheaha Family Support Council; this
7474 organization is made up of all volunteers who want to serve
7575 others with, or have a family member with, developmental
7676 disabilities; she currently runs operations of Cheaha and
7777 Region V; and
7878 WHEREAS, Mrs. Bearden is also a volunteer with United
7979 Way and Build a Bridge Food Pantry in Vincent, Alabama; she
8080 volunteers at Grasmere Community Center; she is a member of
8181 the Board of Alabama Deaf Blind Multiple Association; and
8282 she is cochair of a group with Dr. Ed Hall, which stems from
8383 United Way and helps distribute Emergency Management funds
8484 received for North Talladega County; now therefore;
8585 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
8686 LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That Mrs. Mollie MacLeroy Bearden is
8787 highly commended and congratulated on being honored by the
8888 Willie and Betty Farrior Foundation for her outstanding
8989 service to the Talladega community and the State of Alabama,
9090 and this resolution is offered with utmost appreciation to
9191 her, along with best wishes in all future endeavors.
